THE WORLD OF APU is the third and final installment of Satyajit Ray's "Apu Trilogy," the most famous group of films to come out of India. After following the young character of Apu from his early years (PATHER PANCHALI) to his schooldays (APARAJITO), the trilogy picks up with Soumitra Chatterjee in the role of Apu as a young man. His desire is to become a writer, but a lack of finances has forced him to abandon his university studies. His life changes, however, when he again meets his old friend Pulu (Swapan Mukerjee).
