While this stop-motion movie may not surpass today’s state-of-the-art animation techniques, it's a charming version of the bucolic fable. Homebody Mr. Mole (Richard Pearson) leaves his subterranean dwelling to picnic with his buddy Mr. Rat (Ian Carmichael). A naive but curious soul, Mole sees the good in weasels and doesn't understand why traveling to their Wild Wood environs might be hazardous. Fortunately he heeds Rat's wise counsel and instead agrees to a jaunt to Toad Hall, the mansion where the flibbertigibbet Mr. Toad (David Jason) resides.
