An oddball pairing of Katharine Hepburn and Nick Nolte works for about three-quarters of this black comedy, then the whole thing falls apart. Grace Quigley (Hepburn) is a poverty-stricken pensioner whose family has been dead for years. When she sees Seymour Flint (Nolte) kill her rotten
landlord, she realizes that he is a hit man. Seymour is that indeed, but he is troubled about his work and spends regular sessions with his analyst (Chip Zien). Grace tracks Seymour down and makes him an offer. She thinks that they can open a business that will be beneficial as well as profitable.
She has many aged friends, all of whom would like to end their existence on this earth...
