An antitelevision picture produced, directed, and written by a radio producer, Oboler, whose dislike for the medium is clearly presented. The execution, however, verges toward silliness as philosophy professor Conried's TV set begins to live. It walks around, tells Conried what he should and shouldn't read, hypnotizes anyone who tries to stop it, and does the housework. In short, the tube takes over his life. Before long, Conried fights back and destroys the set. As capricious as it sounds, Oboler deadens it with seriousness, resulting in nothing more than a drawn-out sermon. leave a comment
