In order to keep their palatial English home, Nesbitt and daughter Hampshire, a photographer, set up a phony convent in an old priory next to the house. "The Sisters of Vigilance," along with the not-so-bright Culliford, use the so-called convent as a front for a stolen-goods operation. A Scotland Yard detective comes around to investigate but quickly disappears, so Granger is assigned to the case. Meanwhile the "nuns" decide to expand their operation and bring in Arent, a talented safecracker. Granger talks Hardy, a hotel receptionist, into helping him with the case.
