This remake of the 1929 film that starred Norma Shearer in the title role went through numerous revisions in this updated version, resulting in a much less forceful, lifeless drama. It's mainly an attempt to showcase Day, who never regained the popularity she achieved in her role in the
DOCTOR KILDARE series. Her role was rewritten to conform with the moral codes of the time. She plays a stenographer on trial for murder, with Young getting the job of defending her. He also happens to be madly in love with her. An adequate cast and decent job of pacing partially make up for the
qualities missing here that were in the earlier effort.
