Quillan plays a little-mister-innocence type who becomes involved with the mob when he attempts to cut in on the kingpin's girl, Peers. His saving grace is his friendship with thick-skinned but good-hearted boxer Armstrong, who has a sweetheart in the engaging and exuberant Rogers.
Armstrong not only saves Quillan but saves the picture as well. His performance and the interplay between him and Rogers make for some entertaining situations in this smartly paced story. This was Rogers' first picture for RKO-Pathe after she won a release from her contract at Paramount, which had
done little for her career.
