The Three Worlds Of Gulliver

Mathews plays Gulliver in this Ray Harryhausen animation/live-action feature that explores the lands of Lilliput and Brobdingnag. (The third world is England.) Using the same techniques that were employed in THE SEVENTH VOYAGE OF SINBAD (which also starred Mathews), this film shows miniature folks dwarfed by giant people and animals. The film's pace is aided by a fine Bernard Herrmann score. Portions of Swift's caustic satire remain sharp, despite the elmination of three of the worlds depicted in the novel and the addition of romantic interest Thorburn.
