The third film version of Bayard Veiller's Broadway play is a pretty dull affair enlivened only by Whitty's good performance. All the hokum of mediums is exposed here, as Whitty helps Stone investigate a murder. The best scenes involve Whitty leading a seance; otherwise this is a ho-hum
mystery. Herbert repeats his role from the 1930 film, which starred Bela Lugosi.
