Joe E. Brown literally goes to town in this fine comedy about a wealthy Texan (Brown) who packs his bags and winds up in New York City. He may be a tenderfoot, but when some gangsters try to get tough with him, he resorts to gunplay and emerges victorious. All his problems start when he buys into a failing Broadway production, falling in love with typist Rogers. After Rogers gets fired, Brown buys out the play and casts his love in the lead role, turning her and the production into a success. Remade in 1937 as DANCE CHARLIE DANCE and again in 1940 as AN ANGEL FROM TEXAS. leave a comment
