A melange of Whoopi Goldberg monologues masquerading as a feature film. Other than the opening shots and a brief scene in a cramped, dingy hallway, the entire film takes place in the eccentrically appointed apartment of struggling actress Vashti Blue (Goldberg), who spends the bulk of her time on the telephone. Goldberg uses the phone--indeed the whole movie--as a vehicle to trot out a gallery of impersonations and accents--Indian, Irish, Oxbridge English, Chinese, Viennese, street black, and so on. It all gets pretty tedious; by the time the twist ending arrives, it's difficult to care. leave a comment
