In television-show style, Williams, in one of his first starring roles, plays a police lieutenant who is taking money under the table, while at the same time attempting to break up the mob in an effort to impress his superiors. He is spurred on by Booke. This film uses plenty of old
standards, such as fistfights and car chases, to keep the weak story line interesting. To justify Williams' behavior, the film shows flashbacks of his traumatic childhood and events he endured as a young adult that helped shape his life. Watch for Avalon in a small part as the shifty-eyed
crook.
