The Straw Man

Evans, an insurance company detective, is assigned to a case involving a wealthy, well-insured client and his recently murdered mistress. The man's wife, Morris, hires her own detective, Walsh, to uncover any wrongdoing. Evans, however, suspects that Walsh and Morris are behind the murder. Backed into a corner, Walsh attempts to kill Evans but is instead killed by Morris, who is trying to protect her own skin. Evans isn't easily fooled and is able to prove that Morris was responsible for the mistress's death.
