This picture has the honor of being the first talking effort of the great filmmaker Alexander Korda. Loy plays a Hungarian gypsy who takes refuge in a farm house after a terrible storm. She then continues to use her sex appeal to drive the men wild and the entire household upside down. The inadequate sound techniques was one variable that affected this picture, but the script is shallow, and the performances are totally stilted by the material. Even Loy seems overpowered in a role that was just up her alley. leave a comment
