The Silver Whip

New stagecoach driver Wagner is fired from the job after he's held up by Kellogg. Robertson is the guard aboard the coach and is wounded during the holdup. He swears revenge on the outlaw which ultimately leads to his doom. Later in the story, Wagner becomes a deputy for sheriff Calhoun. Kellogg is captured and held in the jail under Wagner's guard. When the townspeople descend on the jail demanding a lynching, Wagner discovers his old friend Robertson is the mob's leader. This forces the deputy to face some deep moral questions. Does he give in to mob justice or protect the rights of the accused? In the end, he stands by the law and is forced to shoot Robertson. T...
