A surprisingly well-directed suspense film, based on an actual 1970 double-murder case in which a young medical student and his girl were found tied to a tree with their faces bludgeoned. After the discovery of the bodies by some schoolchildren, the film winds a strange path through darkness and the supernatural until it reaches its climax, which is somewhat contrived and disappointing.
