Long before people feared sharks in the movies, there were sea bats (aka sting rays) that did the dirty work. Torres plays the sister of a man who, while sponge-diving, has his breathing apparatus tampered with and becomes lunch for a giant sea bat. A priest comes to the island to console Torres and restore her waning faith. Actually, he isn't really a man of the cloth at all but an escaped convict from Devil's Island. The man who killed her brother plans to turn the priest in, but while they are traveling to the prison in a motor boat, the sea bat attacks. The boat is overturned and dragged through the water by the harpooned creature, sparing only the priest's life. A well photographed, exciting change of pace. leave a comment
