Long in development (it was once intended as a vehicle for Rodney Dangerfield), THE SCOUT feels like a classic case of too many cooks spoiling the broth. An amusing comic premise, mixing baseball and psychiatry, gets lost along the way in a film that displays much evidence of post-production tampering.
