Wymore owns a horse that has a dog for its best friend. When the dog is lost, the nag goes into a deep depression. Young Ladd comes to his grandfather's ranch while the boy's father remarries. Ladd and
his dog have a run-in with a rattlesnake and a puma, and then they meet Wymore and her
horse. Ladd's dog and the horse become instant friends and the horse is lifted out of its depression. Wymore begs the boy to give her the dog and in the end Ladd realizes that it would be best if his dog stayed with its new companion.
