A light-hearted tone creates the atmosphere for this spy caper set during the closing days of the Civil War. Fleming plays a Confederate sympathizer carrying a message to irregular Grays who are seeking a shipment of Union gold. Ford plays a cowpoke who follows her because he needs her
as a witness to clear him of a murder charge. Tailing along is O'Brien, a Union undercover agent, who hopes Fleming will lead him to the brains behind the operation, Reed, a swindler intent on keeping the gold for himself. Ford, Fleming, and O'Brien give performances which offset the incongruities
in the direction by Fenton (in his last assignment as a director).
