War adventure set in the Philippines has Saxon and ex-con Poe leading a group of Filipino guerrillas against one of the last remnants of Japanese forces on the islands. The Japanese are after a shipment of gold bullion and have taken over a convent in their search for the treasure. Poe manages to sneak inside the convent, where he encounters the American Fitzsimmons (the real-life daughter of Maureen O'Hara), who has been sheltered by the nuns. The two take a quick liking to each other before a battle breaks out between Saxon's army and the "Japs" inside the convent. Tautly made and well-paced action vehicle. leave a comment
