The Rainbow Jacket

This British horse racing saga stars Bill Owen as Sam Lilley, an ex-champion jockey banned from the track for an indiscretion. Trying to relive his former glory vicariously through the exploits of his young protege, Georgie Crain (Fella Edmonds), Sam vows that the kid will never let his morals slip. When Georgie's mother hits hard times, however, both Sam and the kid capitulate and throw a race for crooks offering a big price, posing more difficult ethical dilemmas down the line. A trite outcome mars this fairly entertaining film, which features real-life British racing figures Raymond Glendenning and Gordon Richards.
