An effective children's film set in Britain during the Edwardian period and starring Sheridan as the wife of a British Foreign Office employee who is falsely accused of treason and imprisoned. Forced by disgrace and lack of income to move from their lush surroundings to the Yorkshire moors, Sheridan sells the idea to her children as sort of a game (they "pretend" to be poor). The kids take to their new surroundings quickly, and it is only a matter of time until they have made new friends and sunk roots in the area. The village they now live in is located near a railway, and much of their play time is spent among the trains. Among their new friends is a wealthy resident of the area who volunteers to help them clear their father's name. Well acted, nicely scripted, and produced with the right amount of heart and sentiment. leave a comment
