A Puerto Rican teenager is found dead in a tenement basement. Near him lies a broken hypodermic needle. Rogers and Lansing are the cops assigned to case. Carlyle is Rogers' daughter, Lansing's fiancee, and, unknown to either of them, a junkie. This turgid melodrama is routine stuff (substitute "alcohol" for drugs and you'll have a 1940s programmer), though the acting is not bad, particularly by Orlandi, who plays the murderer. The screenplay is by Robbins, who went on to write a series of delightfully trashy novels. leave a comment
