In this film set in the mid-1700s, Hope is an actor on board a Jamaica-bound merchant ship. Admittedly a coward, he covers his real personality by staging an act he calls "The Great Sylvester--Man of Seven Faces." When the ship is attacked by a villainous pirate gang led by The Hook
(McLaglen), Hope saves the king's daughter (Mayo) and runs from danger. After successfully avoiding the cutthroats it appears that Hope and Mayo will finally go off together. Suddenly, however, Bing Crosby comes into frame and leaves with Mayo. Hope turns to the camera and expresses his anger at
that "bit player from Paramount" who takes Hope's catch. He then goes on to tell Sam Goldwyn...
