The Pretender

A flawed but engrossing example of film noir, this stars Dekker as a man plotting to kill the fiance of Craig, a woman he has been embezzling from and now plans to marry. He tells the hitman that the fiance's picture will appear in the newspaper. When Dekker marries Craig, however, a picture of the newlyweds is printed instead, causing the hitman to think that Dekker is his intended target. Dekker becomes increasingly paranoid, hiding in his room and eating only canned foods and crackers. Peeking out his window, he notices a shadow under a streetlight and shoots at it.
