A big surprise from director Mira Nair (SALAAM BOMBAY, MISSISSIPPI MASALA) -- a racially stereotypical, generally ham-handed romantic comedy. Marisa Tomei, playing a Cuban immigrant in Miami, comes off as a bush-league Charo -- she's made to utter lines like "I am Cuba: used by many and conquered by none."
