The Pajama Game

A terrific movie comes out of this simple idea: Katie "Babe" Williams (Doris Day) works in a pajama factory. She and her coworkers want a 7.5-cent raise, but management refuses, so she leads a grievance committee and takes their complaints to shop superintendent Sid Sorokin (John Raitt), spoiling the whole movement when she falls in love. Day is an utter delight in the role, funny and intelligent even in pajamas, and the choreography by Bob Fosse is energetic.
