The Painted Desert

This is a remake of the far better Boyd western. O'Brien takes the lead, and the plot is reconstructed for his talents. This time the hero teams up with Day to work on a tungsten mine. Kohler is a naughty mining agent who wants the metal for himself. He employs the aid of Mong, an equally corrupt banker. The film is weakly played and poorly scripted. The only really good moments are those pirated from the previous version, including the climactic mine explosion. The dialog is unnatural, and there are songs that get in the way of the action.
