Poitier poorly recreates the character from the movies IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT and THEY CALL ME MR. TIBBS, in which he starred as homicide detective, Virgil Tibbs. He becomes involved with a group of young people who are trying to clean up a local drug ring. The group breaks into a furniture warehouse which is fronting the drug operation and the store manager is killed. The group gets in contact with Poitier and tells him that they were the ones that broke into the warehouse but that they didn't kill anyone. Poitier risks his job and follows the group without reporting it to his superiors. Soon after, Poitier is suspended from the police force, but this enables him to make the moves to crack the drug ring. leave a comment
