The history of prostitution is carelessly traced from prehistoric times (Indovina's episode) through the future of sex (Godard's episode). None of the segments is good, especially in comparison to other works by the directors. Godard's segment is the most talked-about only because he directed it--it is barely better than the rest, looking like a color version of his earlier ALPHAVILLE. This episode (and the film) ends quite simply with a kiss, which is perhaps an intentional return to THE KISS (1896), one of the earliest films made. A fine troupe of actors is wasted: Moreau, Brialy, Welch, Dalio, Karina, and Leaud. leave a comment
