The Old Dark House: Review
An inferior remake of the 1932 James Whale classic starring Poston as an American car salesman in London who is plunged into a nightmare when he delivers a car to an old Welsh mansion. When he learns that the man who ordered the car has died, Poston attempts to leave but crashes the car in a storm and must spend the night at the mansion. There he meets two sisters, Scott and Fielding (one nice, one evil); Bull, in a dual role as brothers Jasper and Casper; Johns, who is building an ark in anticipation of another great flood; Grenfell, Casper and Jasper's mother; and the head of the eccentric household, Morley. During the night, a different family member is killed every hour by an unseen murderer. Eventually Poston realizes that the killer is a woman and he immediately suspects Fielding. But Scott confesses to the crimes explaining that she wanted the family fortune all to herself. She flees the house, but not before Poston learns that she has planted time bombs throughout the mansion. Racing against time, Poston manages to clear the house of all the bombs, throwing the last one out the window only seconds before it explodes. The bomb lands at Scott's feet, and justice is done.
