The Office Scandal

Early talkie (practically a silent) starring Haver as a newspaper reporter who persuades a judge to release the suspected killer of a wealthy racetrack dandy, because the suspect, Hatton, used to be a newshound who has now become a drunk. Hatton gets a job on Haver's paper. The city editor, however, is not convinced and does some digging himself. At the morgue he learns of Hatton's close relationship with the dead man's widow, vampish Livingston, and he builds a strong case against Hatton, which Haver overturns in a neat coup for a scoop in the end.
