The Odessa File

Set in 1963, this fine, fast-paced, edge-of-the-seat international thriller revolves around the efforts of Peter Miller (Jon Voight), a reporter and son of a WW II German soldier, to track down some SS men who mysteriously vanished after the war. Miller comes across the diary of a death camp survivor; after reading the chilling narrative, he begins his search for Eduard Roschmann (Maximilian Schell), a Nazi who has gone into hiding. The investigation is sidetracked by members of Odessa, a secret group of former Nazis who realize that Miller poses a threat to their existence and who send a hit man after him.
