Vincent is a struggling Parisian artist who lives with model Pascal. His works are soon acclaimed and he becomes famous, but success goes to his head. He meets and has an affair with the wealthy Phillippe, though he has tied the knot with Pascal. Pascal tries to kill herself, then leaves
Vincent for Davy, another artist. Standard love-triangle material given an uninspired treatment. Kelber, who worked with Jean Cocteau, Jean Renoir, and Nicholas Ray, does a commendable job with the photography. (In French; English subtitles.)
