The Moving Finger

1963, Movie, NR, 81 mins

Low-budget independent feature shot in a "cinema verite" manner and set in Greenwich Village. The film opens with a bank robbery in which only one of the thieves survives, though wounded, and escapes with $90,000. He stumbles into the village, where he is taken in by a group of beatniks who live in the basement of a coffee house. Despite the fact that the beatniks are supposed to shun wealth, they all plan to part the robber from his loot. The coffee house owner, a drunken doctor and his daughter, and the police also are plotting to get the money. London, one of the beatniks, convinces the thief to leave with her, and when he dies in the street, she gets the cash. Released: 1963 Rated: NR Length: 81 mins
