Top cast gets hurt by a pathetic story they cannot save. McGoohan is a U.S. revenue agent who wants to make a quick killing just before the repeal of Prohibition. An old army buddy, Alda, has plenty of whiskey and McGoohan wants it. But Alda backs down and McGoohan hires two ex-cons to scare him into completing the deal. The two thugs kill the local sheriff and his deputy and set their eyes on the whiskey. McGoohan now decides to help Alda with the out-of-control cons. One of the thugs, Widmark, murders McGoohan and takes four townspeople hostage. He wants the moonshine in exchange for the people. Alda relents and tells Widmark he has hidden the liquor in a graveyard. But when he starts digging, instead of finding moonshine, Widmark sets off dynamite that Alda had buried there. To celebrate the demise of Widmark and Prohibition, Alda tosses a party, and he supplies the booze. leave a comment
