Jean-Jacques Beineix's follow-up to DIVA is an obscure, poetic, dreamlike mystery based on a novel by cult favorite David Goodis. This visually awe-inspiring production tells the story of Gerard (Gerard Depardieu), a riverfront dock worker tormented by the need to find out who raped his sister, causing her to commit suicide while lying in a gutter. During his search, Gerard becomes attracted to Loretta (Nastassia Kinski), the stunning mystery woman who cruises the waterfront in her blazing red convertible.
