The Maverick Queen

Stanwyck plays a Southern gal who comes west and opens up a hotel/saloon called "The Maverick Queen." Her partners include famed outlaws Brady and Petrie, leaders of the Wild Bunch Gang. Sullivan enters the scene as a supposed outlaw who is actually an undercover Pinkerton detective out to break up and arrest the Wild Bunch. He is posing as the infamous gunman Cole Younger, and Stanwyck falls in love with him. She ends up dying when the real Younger (Davis) shows up. She takes the bullets so Sullivan might live and settle down with Murphy, the owner of a struggling ranch. This interesting little western was a well-told piece and nicely acted throughout.
