This tasteless remake of a popular Broadway hit stars Mason as an anthropology professor, faithful to his wife, Hayward, through their entire 16 years of marriage. When the daughter of an acquaintance of Mason's comes to stay with the couple, Mason and Hayward have the first real test of
their marriage. The guest is Newmar, a ravishing Swede, who has one thought on her mind--to have a baby by Mason. She reasons that the combination of her looks and his brains would produce a genetically perfect child. Hayward, not surprisingly, doesn't much care for the idea. Though the
performances are believable, the material just isn't funny.
