An odd one about a ghost writer, Rains, who turns out brilliantly inspiring pieces on the evils of war and the immorality of the warmongers. He is sent by his publisher, Atwill, into the most dangerous WW I fronts so the latter can court Rains' wife. While on the front he continues to
preach peace, but when he suddenly decides to head home, he finds Atwill with his wife and proceeds to behead his boss. A strong anti-war statement which details the effects that constant, widespread killing can have on the peaceful individual. Bennett turns in a fine performance, as does Quigley,
better known as Baby Jane, who can't help but steal all the scenes she is in.
