A superb performance from Attenborough is at the core of this character study. He is cast as a former scientist who accidentally causes the death of his fiancee's brother. Stricken with an overwhelming guilt, Attenborough assumes a false identity and holes up in a seedy boarding house. One night he locks himself in his room and begins to crack up.
