Donlevy is a detective out to discover the truth behind a protection scheme. Lamour is a singer who was electrocuted for murder, but now her ghost has come back to haunt some gangsters. Ultimately, Donlevy discovers this to be a ruse: Lamour lives and is the brains behind the protection
outfit. This weird, offbeat idea (based on a Craig Rice novel) is not handled nearly as cleverly as it could be. The confusing screenplay goes off on a series of wild and diversified tangents before settling down with the main story line. This was the first picture for the Amusement Enterprises
