Wakefield is an exiled Ruritanian monarch who marries Nissen, a poverty-stricken commoner. After the nuptials, Wakefield is called back to the throne and takes his bride home on a British battleship. There Nissen meets commander Manners and the two fall in love. Fortunately for her, this is
the movies, where complications like marriage are easily smoothed out by unlikely endings. This one has Wakefield's people asking her to give up the king so he can marry an heiress, a task Nissen joyfully accepts. The rest of the film is as unbelievable as the ending in this routine, low-budget
romance.
