Dull, romantic yarn has a wife accompanying her New England sea captain husband on a journey to the South Seas. She is a woman of puritanical upbringing, subordinate to the wishes of her husband. When docked on an island, the captain goes ashore, making his wife stay on board the ship. Her
singing and guitar playing attract a local islander, and the two fall in love. The wife is torn between her duty to her husband and the freedom the islander offers her. Thin story suffers from characters that are never fully developed.
