Mills is sentenced to life imprisonment after being framed for murder, and, 12 years later, he is released on parole, obsessed with finding the people who sent him to prison and getting revenge. He learns that the man he was accused of murdering heads a dockside business and that one of the
perjurers is married to a Scotland Yard detective. Mills meets Bergh, a refugee cafe girl, and falls in love with her, but even she doesn't sidetrack his thirst for revenge.
