An overblown adventure picture set in the 1920s stars Howard as a British police officer in India who opposes his country's treatment of the local Bhantas. Their leader, Brynner, is regarded as a dangerous man by the British, so, when he resolves to free his people, the English send Howard out to capture the rebel. Howard is stymied by his lack of enthusiasm for the assignment and his respect for Brynner, so he sets out to bring him back alive. After a few run-ins with the rebel, Howard meets Brynner face to face and pleads with him to give himself up. Brynner refuses, and Howard returns to his base camp with the news. Frustrated, the British plan to attack Brynner's stronghold, and in the ensuing battle Brynner is mortally wounded. Admitting a respect for his pursuer, Brynner asks Howard to raise his young son as his own. leave a comment
