Brook is a lawyer who defends his soon-to-be brother-in-law, Rogers, on a murder charge. A sailor, Arlen, has been charged with the murder because he had gambled away his gun, which was used as the murder weapon. He has been sentenced to death. Rogers comes forward with a confession in the final minutes. Wray is Brook's fiancee and Arthur plays Arlen's girl friend. One of the first of many films to explore the sanctity of the lawyer-client confidence (remarkably resembling the popular priest-penitent theme), this features an excellent portrayal by Arlen. Rogers, Mary Pickford's husband, does well as the ne'er-do-well accessory to murder. leave a comment
