The Last Waltz

Set in the mythical European country of Ruritania, THE LAST WALTZ features Gerald Barry as a prince who must marry in order to satisfy his ministers. A countess and three of her four daughters are presented for the playboy monarch's selection. However, complications arise when Jarmilla Novotna, Barry's would-be bride, is more attentive to her escort, Harry Welchman, than to him. The jealous prince has Welchman imprisoned, but all is righted when the missing fourth daughter arrives and gives Barry's heart a whirl. Shot on location in Paris, this production of a Viennese operetta is not nearly so gay so it should be, resulting in a tired, boring production.
