The Last Ten Days

As one of the final films of his long career, the great G.W. Pabst undertook a film depiction of the possible goings-on in the bunker as Adolf Hitler, his wife Eva, and some of the higher-ups await their eventual end. While these maniacs are trying to cope with the turn of events, there is still a war going on in which they are supposed to be making important decisions. In walks Werner, a soldier just following orders, who wants Hitler to approve orders to send reinforcements to the front. Werner acts as a contrast to others inhabiting this bunker, apparently to suggest that not all Germans were maniacal Nazis, but normal people just trying to live. Pabst's politic...
